We have been in Cairns now for a few days and are enjoying a little slower pace than in Sydney. But despite sleeping in, watching more "telly" (the kids speak Australian now:) than we have on the whole trip we have still have managed to get around and see and do a lot.
We rented a car and drove along the coast to Trinity Beach where we swam between the flags. The flags indicate where the net is which keeps unwanted swimmers out. Sharks are not the worry as much as the very poisonous jelly fish. Nick has had enough of fish bites for this trip and in addition to that, one night we went to something called Reef Teach. And as much as the kids got excited about all the different fish and corrals they also acquired a healthy respect for the dangers of the Ocean, so it was not difficult to convince them to follow the rules.
One afternoon we went to a go-cart place. The whole family had a lot of fun.
