Thursday was the last day of school and it is now officially summer (you wouldn't know from looking at the wether but we are still hoping.) Last day of school is a big deal in Sweden. The whole school gathers all dressed up. The kids parade down from the school to the gym, the parents take time off from work and the kids sing and the principal speaks. It is very nice.
We went over to my friend Helena's house afterwards for lunch and strawberry cake. The kids were outside playing celebrating first day of summer (even though the rain was pouring down!)
My cousin Sanna and her husband Lars and one of their kids came over to my mom's house the day before and the sun was actually shining!
I feel like Pippi Longstocking who started school just days before the summer break since she thought it was unfair that kids who went to school got a summer break when she, who didn't,
missed out on the break. Even though we have been on vacation (or adventure as Bob likes to call it) for months now it does feel good to now have earned our summer break!
I am writing this in the car (on our way to Helsingborg) with a mobile internet connection - the wonders
of technology!
